I hope you are doing good.  

It is good that you told Varun how to write a essay.  After putting down things in writings.  After writing down in the way you have asked him - He knows what is that he has learnt from his school. And he has written it down. 

(it is just my suggestion. but you can decide when to implement) there is a website I found different levels  http://www.thewritesource.com/studentmodels/

the reason why I am requesting you with the input of the website is - for a person who has studied all his years in a western country - we (all of us) suggesting him the way to write a essay - will be taken in a incorrect way. 

I was thinking the best way is to make Varun realise by him writing essay on "how to write"  
for specific topic like (Grade 4th and Grade 5th)
   "Personal Writing" or 
   "Subject Writing" 
   "Story and Play writing"
   "Report Writing" 
   "Poetry Writing"

May be you can ask Varun,  to write essay about 'how to write'  the above topics.  So for each topic one essay as to how to write. So totally it will be 5 essay to cover all the 5 topics listed above.

1)(giving less essay homework) Ask Varun to write a essay on 'how to write an essay' . You may want to consider - giving less the essay homework. I think Varun is struggling to write essay. 

2) (give some homework on Tamil Learning). Akila told me that Varun is very much interested in Tamil blog. I have created a http://trainingtamil01.blogspot.com . you may want ask him to  recite Tamil alphabets. I can record as mp3 and give it in the blog itself. I can then install Tamil99 keyboard software (suggested by Tamil nadu government)  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamil_99 and http://www.google.com/inputtools/try/

3) (for English SPELLING) you may want to give more English spelling homework. created a blog http://trainingEngspelling01.blogspot.com

if I can request  
 (1) - you may want to ask Varun to create a tamil blog - where he can type Tamil basic letters in the blog. 
 (2) - also you may want to insist that Varun updates his http://varundailyhighlights.blogspot.ca
  (3) I was thinking if you update the essay topics page,  so I will ask Varun to pickup any two topics from there.

Varun is doing good. now a days there is less struggle to make Varun do IXL. thanks for your coaching. both Akila and I could see improvements in Varun's efforts.

To Varun teacher, 

Varun likes the coaching time very much.  We could see that he is now by himself takes interest in doing ixl.  Now he is doing the ixl the night before the class.  He will sure improve doing the ixl daily.  Today I will hang a paper chart on the wall. Which he can  update with a tick. Focus is to know if he remembers. 

Thanks so much for being part and helping Varun stay focused and interested in learning.
